While your shiny new Schram crowler may look like an oversized can, please keep in mind that you’ve just taken home super fresh, crazy delicious draft beer. As such, please keep your crowler cold until it’s time to share it with deserving people (today, perhaps?) Upon opening, be sure to consume the beer in one sitting.
Our crowlers are filled by our skilled staff using the best technology and processes available, but their shelf lives are fleeting. To experience beer that is an accurate representation of our brewing intentions, please enjoy your crowler within 3 months of the fill date written on the label.
WHAT IS A CROWLER?
A crowler is essentially an oversized aluminum can that’s filled from our draft system at (or just before) the time of purchase.
SO IT’S A CAN?
Well, it looks like a can, but since it’s not filled on a canning line- it’s similar to a can but it has a much shorter shelf life than cans or bottles filled on our packaging lines
BUT…IT LOOKS LIKE A CAN.
In addition to looking like a can, it does something that glass containers can’t do: it blocks out 100% of the evil UV light that derives pleasure from degrading hop compounds and skunking your delicious beer. And does a better job of retaining precious CO2 because it’s seamed and sealed like a can.
WHICH SCHRAM BEERS CAN I GET IN A CROWLER?
Beers available in crowlers will be determined by different components. Seasonality, popularity, inventory, and exclusive small batches. Crowlers are available as supplies last.
CAN I DRINK MY CROWLER IN THE TASTING ROOM, OUTSIDE, RESTROOM OR PARKING LOT?
Please don’t. Our crowlers are strictly “to go,” allowing you to take away fresh, delicious Schram beer to share later with good friends or good-looking strangers. Plus, MN state law frowns on doing any of the aforementioned.
KEEPING CARE OF YOUR CROWLER!
All of our beer is unpasteurized and should be drank FRESH! Please keep your crowlers cold, and drink them as soon as you can. The maximum recommended shelf life is 2 weeks for growlers and 3 months for crowlers. Again, please refrigerate your beer!
WHAT DO I DO WITH MY OLD SCHRAM GROWLER?
Clean Schram glass growlers are still acceptable for filling on the fly- any 64oz. clean stainless steel and hydro flasks are always acceptable. Please rinse out your growlers twice when you’ve finished them, and toss the cap – we do not reuse them. If you no longer want to hold onto your empty growler glass, they may be turned in for a complimentary beer
